wow o wow
the recent turn of event has been a spectacle
isnt it amusing, that when it comes to lending help to poorer country, much less a poorer muslim nation, help comes like a snail competing in a marathon which will take ages to complete. when the devastating pakistani earthquake erupted, we heard of help from the states and even france but not from a muslim nation. amazingly even the rival india land a helping hand. but when it comes to condemning another country, tsk tsk tsk...we can see that all the muslim nations are HAND IN HAND united! of course, it has to do with their religion that is why they are behaving like that. but when you think logiclly, does islam permits violence???? NOPE.
islam doesnt preach or advocate for violence. islam is a peaceful religion. but look at all the big hoohaa about the cartoon that we dont even get the chance to see and decide for ourselves if it is OTT! well o well. it is getting out of proportation and not only has it affect the muslim nations, it has been affecting the other nations politically. boycotting of danish products. it is a political thing! and if i must say, the cartoon is just an excuse of propaganda. by boycotting their products, burning their flags and protesting....it doesnt help at. it will not make matter easier. in fact, with all these protests, it result in wastage of lives. a 14 year old afghan child was killed, but then again, it is better for him to die now as his future is bleak in afghan. lives were taken elsewhere too. this is not the true teaching of islam. if they think that by behaving like a child screaming for attention will get an apology from the dane, well...wishful thinking.
the danish foreign minister has said in a televised conference that they will not say sorry to anyone cause they have a thing call freedom of press. and since we are at the talk of press, the sarawak tribune which has been in operation in sarawak for 17 years, was shut down. i am not sure if they voluntarily shut down the office or was asked to shut down. the reason was that they publish the cartoon on their papers. sarawak tribune is just like our local the straits times. been around for so many many years, and one day, u woke up to no more papers in the country. shallow thinking. and a UMNO member has said that the closure of sarawak tribune was a THREAT to others not to take religion or sensitive material to limelight. but then again, it has always been one sided. they are more concern about the bumi people.
the recent case about a chinese student not allowed to attend her convocation for not wearing the head scarf is absurd! for god's sake....she is chinese n not a muslim! well islam practices using force on the weaker one???? i am sure it doesnt! and now...the local televison station wants all its' newscaster to wear the baju kurung when on air. *shakes head* nonsense!!!! sad to think about it, they do not have any freedom of speech! then again, same for the lion city. so i find it rather funny when i watch the tamil news and all the female newscaster speaking fluently in tamil with their putu on their forehead wearing baju kurong! hahahahaha it was a good laugh though. i guess the lesson learnt is that no matter how liberal one tries to be in this world rite now, their thinking is still shallow.
anyway....lets' put things on a lighter side. i will be having my off today and tomoro. i am still at work tho, and will finish at 7am. gonna head down straight to M Hotel where the rest of the bachelors are there since last night. *bummer* was there only in the evening and went to j bar. a cool n hip place to hangout, especially the alfresco sitting. the guys has decided that we will make this a monthly affair to stay in different different hotels in singapore. and to see their service. but nope...i told them not the old gpo though! haahaa i do not want to be under their watchful eyes. at work, there is an overwhelming amount of locals checking in. the trend will be the same for about another 3 days. konon konon feeling romantic laa celebrate vdae kat gpo! buat susah lagi ada laa! haahaa
and yes....one of the guys which i hated has resigned within 24 hours! i think he left after my confrontation with him at the locker! mulut dia tu besar sgt! LOBANG KING! padan muka in the end berhenti! haahaaa see who has the last laugh now! :)
oh yea i almost forgot...a certain famous male celebrity from hongkong has just checked out. and i am the lucky one to assist him. i got 2...yes 2 autograph...haahaa...no no no not his autograph, just a signature on the folio and cc slip! hey, i have to be profession don't i? i can't reveal the name here, coz if not i will be putting my job on the line. he is on confi stay. he look handsomer now, sporting a new haircut. and he is so charismatic! wat a way to start my day!
since been at the gpo, i have seen my fair bit of international celebrity. Nakata, Fantasia, the AMI gang, Yasmin Ahmad, Maya Karin (whom i attended personally..heehee), some famous HK model which i do not noe, some HK actors who were here for the Star Search last year, Sushmita Sen (twice i chat up with her) and the MTV guests star that came here in 2004!
Yasmin Ahmad is the director for the acclaimed controvesial SEPET and she has just finished GUBRA. she is very very friendly and very down to earth. Maya Karin is gorgeous!!!! she is born in 1979 and still hold a deutsh passport. cool huh???
enough of the famous people...i am sure they have an interesting day routine!
anyway...the night with minh was splendid! we gate crashed a party of one of her sis friends! there were so many international student as minh was from german international school, so is her sis. so i was a bit awkward at first trying to blend in cause all of them are angmoh and even the asian ones speak with thick american accent! but the night went great. made new friends. and twice i was at the VIP area! heehee but erm...i can't even remember the birthday boy's name! notti notti
i am sick right now. FLU. who cares, gonna go to M Hotel, sleep, take a swim, and just chill with company of great friends. i thank god for making my life bumped into them. they are my only male friends that are so comfortable with me! but hey, that is wat being friends are all about. can't wait for our planned trip to bangkok come march 30th!
and yes manis, we need a holiday together!!! last year bintan, this year bintan lagi ke? atau chathuchak market! cheerios!

what if
sometime a few months ago, i asked my mum an innocent question. "What will you do if you found out that your only daughter is pregnant out of wedlock?" It sure did bring in tension in the living room while watching CNA's Get Real. I can see the look in her face that, she does not want to talk about it. I nudged her on and carry on..."Will you ask her to get marry?" "Yes" came her reply. Very firm. I wonder wouldnt it only bring more touble to the marriage. There are certain part of her reasons that i kinda agree with. Mostly it has to do with religion.
Islam is a unique religion and at times, i wonder, it is confusing. Not that i doubt God and the wonders he created, just that sometimes, i like to challenge my mind. My mum argued that if the child in the daughter's stomach is born without a father, when the child grow up, there will be problems. Problems like getting married later on, finding the real father to be the wali, or maybe ending up marrying her own flesh and blood cause she does not noe who her fathers' family are. So it kinda brings lotsa problem in the future and it all has got to do with religion. Well of course, abortion will be out of the story, cause you are killing an innocent life. Any religion will advocate for that.
But anyhows, forcing her into a marriage is not a solution as well. Your daughter might end up with a divorce and it will only burden your daughter and the child. What both my mum and i agreed is that, whatever the outcome is, we have to stick by her and not cast her away. Do not be ashamed of what others especially relatives might say. Cause if you as her mum, stand by her, stick by her, nothing will make the matter worse. Hell care what others say. This is the time when your daughter needs you for love, support and a shoulder. Not to aggrevate the matter more by nagging and being angry with her. After all, forgiving is what Islam encourages and of course, it will take time to forget but not remembering is always easy
In the end, my mum said that afterall she is her daughter, her child and she will not blame the child. She agreed that marriage is not a solution, but if it happens to her, she will marry the girl to the guy. Not to cover the whole episode, but because of religious issues that will affect the kid when it grows up. My mum is liberal, is just that, i think, she is tied to the religion. And as any religious or pious Muslim, marriage is the answer. I do not noe if it is a sad thing to do, but you just have to do it whether you like it or not. i say again, it is not to cover up, but it is for the child better future. Insyallah
but if it was my daughter? hmm...i will tell her that marriage is not a solution, neither is abortion, and i will want to hear what she wants to do. And as her father, i will guide her and support her decision. With regards if i am subahat or berdosa for keeping a out of wedlock child, leave it to me to answer between me and God. For he is forgiving, and insyallah he will understand as to why i took the decision.
What about you? What will you do if you found out that your daughter is pregnant out of wedlock?

scorpio
You'll start the day with a big,
bold infusion of ambition.
You're the picture of passion
and progress right now, and
you'll leave a path of inspiration
behind you as the day goes by.
Tonight, let someone else take the lead.
The powers that be have tossed
quite the dilemma your way.
The good news is it involves
someone you miss -- someone you've
been missing dreadfully for a good, long time.
Once you bump into them or
hear their voice on the phone,
force yourself to calm down.
Content yourself with just working
like crazy around your home.
You know how you are when
you're mulling things over, and
keeping busy with mindless tasks
is the best way to make your decision
Today Minh is coming over from Switzerland
for a month break before heading
to Dubai for her management training
it has been almost 6 months since
i last saw her, and the feeling of
missing, and love for her keeps
pounding in my heart
but tonite, all shall go away when finally
i get to meet up with her for
a round of fun, laughter, drinks and dance!
She is the dance queen, she is the girl
that every guys wants to bring back to
meet mommy, she is pretty, she is
my girlfriend, she is my clubbing partner,
she is my aunt aggie, most importantly
she is always there when i need her
be it when she is in Spain or the Swiss Alps
but tonite, i noe that she will not be far away
she will be here, here back in Singapore
here sitting next to me, here hugging me with the
full view of Singapore, here at New Asia Bar
I MISS YOU SO MUCH!
